The regular everyday person enjoys a ritual. Rituals make us safe and help us feel like we have accomplished things throughout the day. These feelings of prosperity and organization are something many take pride in because it validates what they are doing in their life. They are well-rounded and know what’s going on. More than likely, people like this are usually very successful or headed that way.

However, when it comes to the body, people seem to forget that our internal organs need a daily ritual as well to continue consistent health. People who forget to apply this strategy in their wellness routine will usually end up feeling very bad, sluggish, or could even be visiting the hospital very soon. The human system is dependent upon health and wellness rituals in order to allow you the current output needed for you to be successful in every area of life.

5 Alternative Health Rituals

Here are five great alternative rituals you should be using for your body’s health and wellness.

#1 – Sleeping On It

No matter how busy you may feel like you are, it is not going to help your case any way if you don’t get any rest. The Smithsonian revealed that nearly one-third of Americans get less than six hours of rest every night, therefore proving the downward swing in the health of this generation.

Your body craves sleep. This is where the mind and body both go to rejuvenate itself, recharge, and be ready for the next grueling day you will put it through. If you are a high powered, fully charged person who likes to get things done, then your day is probably full blast. In order to continue this pace, your body needs to go to that restful place where you can continue to count on it in your hectic schedule.

#2 – Take a Break

There are so many distractions in this technological age we are living in. Many things that surround us which can prevent our body from doing the things it needs to do in order to provide us with healthy living. Understanding this, it is important to realize that certain breaks throughout the day are needed. Working for long stretches without a break depletes your mental resources and can create stress and anxiety. CBD has taken the world by storm and has proven to aid in stress and anxiety relief.

However, when you take a fifteen-minute break every so often, you will find it refreshes your mental status and even helps you become more creative. That “Golden Ticket Idea” you have been looking for could be right around the next corner of your relaxing break. Don’t be afraid to take it, work isn’t going anywhere and your mental state is needing it.

#3 – See A Professional

Many people who are pressing the gas pedal of life to the floor without letting up are prone to a lot of health and wellness issues. High stress, less sleep, more anxiety and mental problems, obesity, and other negative issues can impact their day to day life. For the person who doesn’t think they will let up, make sure you’re seeing an alternative wellness professional who specializes in functional medicine. Functional medicine practitioners can help you better understand your body’s health and what it is prone to by offering a medical history and a plan to succeed in understanding what to look for. Functional medicine is a road map of the things you can work on and the wellness options you have to help guide your routine into a more positive route.

#4 – Acupuncture

Another great resource for the person who is always on the go is acupuncture. This alternative wellness routine is a great way to work out your health issues and align your chakras to where they need to be. Normally, someone who is out of balance will have a blocked qi (pronounced “chi”) and acupuncture stimulates different bodily functions and reverses the negative impact a hectic lifestyle brings over time.

Reserving time once a month for an acupuncture session is a great way to de-stress, relax, relieve pain, improve your immune system, enhance your mental clarity, and more. There is a long list of benefits acupuncture can bring a patient who is always on the hustle.

#5 – The Cupping Method

One of the oldest Chinese methods of wellness treatments is called cupping. It is a type of Chinese massage which consists of placing plastic or glass cups all over the body or the area in question. They remove the oxygen inside of the sphere with a cotton ball or other flammable substances. The practitioner then places the sphere on the skin which causes it to cool, creating a vacuum against the body.

This session can create relaxation, loosen tight muscles, increase blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used for a plethora of issues including high blood pressure and people who are in high tension work environments find cupping useful to relieve tension in the neck and back as well.

If you are working a hectic schedule in a high-pressure job, or you’re a stay at home mom who’s job never ends it is still important to take time for yourself. You have already committed to the work you’re doing now, but unless you commit to building a healthy body, the commitment you have made to your job will not last long at this pace. Alternative wellness routines are important to continue this feverish pace in which you live and can help keep your body on track and feeling good at all times. These five routines are just a drop in the bucket to what you can be doing for yourself to improve your way of life.

  • My ritual is taking a break and going to somewhere new. I agree that we all sometimes neglect our bodies in pursuit of money and other things that are important, but if we don’t pay attention to our health, we will fall into a place where all the success means nothing. Health first, right? So, when I need a break, I find my escape in taking my family to somewhere new, even for a few days! Travel should be on the list of what to do when you need a break 🙂
