Apple iPhone SE unveiled!

In order to make inroads into up-and-coming markets such as India and China and to fulfill the wish of thousands of people across the world, apple has launched a mid-range iPhone.

iPhone SE, the 4-inch iPhone will be available in India from next month.

This announcement by the tech giant Apple astounded its rivals. Apple called it “the most beautiful and powerful phone with a four-inch display in the world.”

Price

By far iPhone SE is the cheapest phone launched by Apple. While the 64 GB version will come at $499, the 16 GB model will cost $399 (Rs.39,000). The smartphone boasts of having the same specifications as iPhone 6s.

Display

iPhone SE has a 4-inch Retina display unlike the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s which has a 4.7-inch display. It has a resolution of 640×1136 pixel (326ppi). But at the same time some users may be disappointed as there is no 3D Touch. There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch iPhone, Apple said at the event, adding that it “sold more than 30 million 4-inch iPhone handsets in 2015.” The iPhone SE is directed at people who want to own the iPhone without it being heavy on their purse.

Processor

The iPhone SE has the same processor as the iPhone 6s. So there is a similar A9 SoC, and the same M9 motion coprocessor in the iPhone SE. Apple has not revealed any details about the RAM in the iPhone SE. But as the iPhone 6s has 2GB of RAM, it is possible that the iPhone SE also has a 2GB of RAM chip.

Camera

The iPhone SE has a 12-megapixel iSight camera with f/2.2 aperture. It supports features such as Live Photos, autofocus with Focus Pixels, ability to capture videos in 4K, TrueTone flash, panorama (up to 63 megapixels), and auto HDR for photos.

Other features include exposure control, burst mode, timer mode, five-element lens, hybrid IR filter, backside illumination sensor, sapphire crystal lens cover, auto image stabilisation, improved local tone mapping, improved noise reduction, face detection, and photo geotagging.

There is a 1.2-megapixel front camera with f/2.4 aperture and Retina flash. With its new image signal processor it has the ability to shoot Panorama up to 63MP, 4K video (1080p up to 60 fps) and slo-mo up to 240 fps.

Always-on Siri

As the iPhone SE runs on the A9 SoC and M9 coprocessor, it supports “Always-on Siri” functionality. This will enable you to say “Hey Siri” without having to pick up your iPhone. In other words, you can ask your queries from Siri with taking the trouble of unlocking the phone.

Colours

It will be available in four colours Silver, Gold, Space Grey and Rose Gold.

Availability

You can pick up the new iPhone from March 31, and it will hit 100 countries by May.
